We designed and implemented several new rigs to create the special effects for the hilarious Evil Dead the Musical. We first worked on the show in Pittsburgh for our own No Name Players. This show will always be one of my most treasured theatre experiences. We also came away from the show with a couple new rigs that we are adding to the line of rigs, including a shotgun rig we are calling “The Boomstick” and a giant sustained spray rig dubbed “The Crazy 88”.
As pay off for the love that we put into the No Name Players production of Evil Dead the Musical and the resulting FX that we built for it we got an email from George Reinblatt, the writer of the musical. We were invited to work with the official show by he and Christopher Bond, the original creators. I spent some time in Toronto working with them and designing some of our work into their show, then helped them get the show on its feet in Chicago, Madison and Austin. I trained their new blood technician in our Jedi ways and consequently have added a new name to our team of blood slingers- Mr. Jesse Lund. He is currently on tour with the show along with our soon to be released Crazy 88 rig. They can currently be seen in the 2014 North American Tour of Evil Dead the Musical!
