The past few months have been very busy at Squib FX. Not just from the rigs that we are constantly making for filmmakers and artists all over the world, but from the numerous projects that have also desired our personal attention, asking not just for use of our rigs but the experience of our blood effects services. While we are definitely creating rigs for orders all the time, much of our time is spent using our own rigs to create blood special effects or spent building custom solutions to specific challenges.
Since the beginning of May alone, we’ve been involved in a number of productions that required not only our non-explosive bullet hit rigs but also the expertise to create the effects on set for them day after day. The biggest has certainly been Rick Prince‘s All Saints Eve. Voodoo takes center stage in this thriller feature and you can bet the Rick Prince really leaned on our blood effects for this one!! We have also been using our rigs in a variety of applications for The Outsiders, a TV show shooting its first season in Pittsburgh for the WGN right now. We are also working on a theatrical production of Sherlock’s Last Case for Andrew Paul and Kinetic Theatre that is relying on our bullet hits to create some really cool moments. And we are in pre production on the sequel to Carey Hill‘s horror comedy Scream Park called Return to Scream Park. Also we splattered the entire inside of a convenience store last week for a short film called Insomnia. We also are very proud of the work we did on Anti-Flag‘s new video Brandenburg Gate (not a spec of blood in that one)!!
All in all we have personally seen gallons and gallons of blood spray through our rigs in the past few months and based on the number of rigs that we’ve sold as well I’d say that is just the tip of the bloody iceberg!
