War Reenactors know Bullet Hits

March 20, 2015

Many of you may not know this, but there is an underground subculture that exists all around us. It consists of folks who are very driven to preserve history. Not through paintings or song or text, but through the reenactment of some of man’s darkest hours. These war reenactors can range from those who seek the camaraderie of their fellow Civil War or WW2 or Great War enthusiasts and spend much of their time talking and BBQ-ing to those bordering on obsessed with complete immersion, but one thing that they all share in common is the desire to recreate history with as much attention paid to detail as possible. They do rigorous research and spend hours on forums and years attending conventions to create the most accurate representation of historical conflict as possible. And then they fight.

By the nature of the activity that these historic reenactors partake in, there is a certain level of competition and one-ups-man-ship even among allies. This comes in the form of who kills whom on the battlefield bust also more importantly manifests in an effort to be even more accurate and life like than everyone else. This is where we come in. Our Squib FX rigs are sleek enough (especially The Bond) to hide under pretty much any uniform and fire in a number of ways that will not damage the uniform. With our rigs war reenactors now have the ability to create a dramatic effect on the battlefield that will not only create a more realistically immersive reenactment experience, but will also create a very dramatic moment that will make the battle that much more awesome.

The Bond is the smallest and most compact rig we sell, but The Rodriguez is the most affordable rig and not that much larger. Both of these are the best single shot blood blast effects and would be great for a Civil War reenactor. The Bourne can create two shots from one rig and may prove more useful in a later war scenario like one of the World Wars or later. We are working on rigs that fire even more hits from one rig and will allow the action to elevate even more! Try The McDonaugh buried under some debris or in a bunker creating a mortar or cannon ball attack that blasts 1/2 gallon of blood (maybe a prop hand?) 20 feet into the air in a fountain of debris and horror. There are many ways that our rigs can be used to create a more vivid reenactment experience.

If you’re a war reenactor, take a look at our rigs as a possible addition to your kit and keep an eye out for a cloud of blood spraying out of the chest of some other poor fallen soul on the battlefield this summer!
